2019 Theta Epsilon Grant Applications: Now Open

September 10, 2019

The Sigma Theta Epsilon grant applications are now open! They will be available online until October 15th. If you are in need of funds for a research or quality/process improvement project, this is a great opportunity for you. You are eligible to apply if you are a Theta Epsilon member, have not received funding from Theta Epsilon in the past 3 years, and are the PI of record or the originator of the project. The funding amount is up to $1,000.00 total.

Get on your feet: Theta Epsilon needs socks!

Theta Epsilon needs socks! Our chapter is collecting new, unused pairs of socks for our Warm Soles sock drive. The socks will be donated to the homeless community of Central Florida. You are more than welcome to bring your donations to any of our events, as well as drop them off at the College of Nursing. Our donation box is located on the 3rd floor at the main desk.

Warm some soles with Theta Epsilon and help us make a difference!

Scholarship Day, 2019: Call for Abstracts

Are you looking for an event where you can present your research, either as a poster or as a podium presentation, to a room of healthcare professionals and students? If so, submit your abstract to be considered for Theta Epsilon's 27th Annual Scholarship Day!

 

Abstracts are due on 02/04/19 at 5pm.​

 

We welcome abstracts for Clinical and Process Improvement, Education and Research.

Sigma Theta Tau - Theta Epsilon Excellence Award Applications are now OPEN!

We would like to announce the 2nd Annual Excellence in Nursing Awards.  There are 3 $250 awards showcasing excellence in nursing practice by Theta Epsilon Chapter members.  These awards are designed to align with the mission statement of Sigma Theta Tau International:  scholarship, leadership, and service. 

* Self-nominations/applications will be open from April 1-May 21.  Awards will be presented at the June STTI meeting.

 

Nursing Excellence in Scholarship:  Research, Education, and Practice

 

This award highlights a project in either the academic or practice setting which demonstrates exceptional applicability to practice.  The needs assessment, design, implementation and current progress/results of the project are meaningful and can be readily applied in the designated setting.

 

Nursing Excellence in Leadership:  Scholarship, Education and Practice

 

The recipient of this award is one who displays exceptional leadership characteristics in the realm of scholarship, education and/or practice.  This is a nurse who is passionate about what he/she is doing; inspires others; leads by example; and whose work will have ongoing impact.

 

Nursing Excellence in Service: Novice to Competent Practitioner

 

This award highlights an individual, 18 months-3 years post licensure, who exhibits excellence in practice in either the community or hospital setting. As a new graduate, this novice nurse demonstrates progression through advanced beginner to competent practitioner.  This competency is exhibited by mastery in deliberate planning and organization; execution of care; and critical thinking. This individual is motivated by the desire to provide exceptional client/patient care.

Get Involved with Habitat for Humanity

The Theta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau will be joining our nursing alumni chapter in our biggest volunteer project yet - building a house!

Scholarship Day Abstract Submission Invitation

Calling All Theta Epsilon Members!

The Theta Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau will soon be announcing the Call for Nominations for the 2018-2020 Board of Directors!

 

We are seeking candidates for the positions listed below. All positions are for a two-year term:

President-Elect

  • Supports and communicates the purposes of the Society to the public

  • Facilitates the achievement of Chapter goals and the Mission of Sigma Theta Tau International

  • Succeeds the President at the end of the two-year term of office

Secretary

  • Records, archives and distributes minutes of the Board of Directors and business meetings

  • Prepares and distributes Annual Report to the membership

  • Oversees Chapter correspondence

Counselor (UCF faculty)

  • Determines and publicizes membership eligibility and induction of new members

  • Sends Membership Invitations and correspondence

  • May Chair Governance Committee

Leadership Succession Committee (3 members)

  • Develops and mentors members to assume leadership roles and organizational positions

  • Recruits Nominees and solicits Candidate statements for open Board positions

  • Prepares, distributes and tallies Ballots for the annual Chapter election

Governance Committee (3 members)

  • Oversees Chapter Membership eligibility

  • Updates Chapter Bylaws as appropriate to comply with International Bylaws

 

Board service is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in your local STTI Chapter, to grow personally and professionally, develop leadership skills, gain unique experience, and make lasting connections with a team of other passionate and motivated nursing professionals.

 

The election will be held in May 2018, and we encourage all active members, including those who will be inducted into STTI in March, to consider putting their names forward as candidates!
